Baheshta Azizi
Baheshta is an Afghan young woman who was born in Kabul and moved to Virginia in late 2015. She is a fourth year undergrad student at the School of Architecture, University of Virginia. Her major is architecture but she also paints and makes sculptures as well.
Living in multiple countries throughout her life-time and being exposed to many different cultures have given her the ability to look at the world through a unique lens. Her motivation for art and design came from observing individuals suffering under various circumstances in a fragile country like Afghanistan. She thinks of her work as a powerful tool to change lives and uplift the vulnerable individuals in society by inspiring them and encouraging them to resist and speak up for their emotions and rights.
Baheshta showcased virtually with I AM Art House on March 20, 2021. You can watch the recording of her exhibition here.
